by Mucho MAS on 05/05/15

Question #4 on the MAS Texas Cultura Quiz:

Name 5 Tejan@ PhD’s

If you attended the 2015 NACCS Tejas Foco conference, you can name over 5 Tejana PhD’s because you met them.

Among the 100's of authors, scholars, professors, writers, activists, students, and community members who convened with us, at the 2015 NACCS Tejas Foco, chaired by Tony Diaz, El Librotraficante, Director of Intercultural Initiatves at Lone Star College-North Harris, we are happy to count the following PhD's (Our disculpas to the many more who we were not able to include in this short post):

Dr. Norma A. Guzmán, PhD, Texas A&M University–Kingsville

Dr. Grisel Cano, Houston Community College

Dr. Adriana Tamez, Houston Community College Board of Trustees

Dr. Lydia French, Houston Community College

Dr. Melinda Mejia, Houston Community College

Bonus brilliance:

Some Tejano PhD’s:

Dr. Tatcho Mindiola, Center for Mexican American Studies, University of Houston

Dr. Nicolás Kanellos, Arte Público Press

After you experience Mexican American Studies, you will know the difference between Chicana, Tejana, Tejano, Tejan@, Texican, Latin@ and/or Hispanic PhD's, if any.

To learn more, all year long, tune into NP Radio: Nuestra Palabra: Latino Writers Having Their Say, Tuesdays 6p-7p, 90.1 FM, KPFT, Houston, Texas. Podcasts and livestream on www.kpft.org.
